Medical Expedition VV Arraial D'Ajuda

Arraial d'Ajuda is a district in the Brazilian municipality of Porto Seguro, in the state of Bahia. With approximately 16 thousand inhabitants, the village is known for the natural beauty of its beaches with crystal clear waters and extensive stretches of soft sand. There it is possible to find a great cultural variety, thanks to the visitors, who arrive from the four corners of the world. Arraial d'Ajuda is a space for all scenarios, whether relaxing, fun or humanitarian aid.

With a focus on generating positive and universal impact, VV is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. All points are integrated into the strategic pillars of our actions.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global agenda adopted during the United Nations (UN) Summit in September 2015 on Sustainable Development. It consists of 17 objectives and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030.

VV meets all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined. For this project in Brazil we will work:

- SDG 3: Health and Well-being

- SDG 10: Reduction of inequalities

September 06th to 11th, 2022

All volunteers must arrive at Porto Seguro airport on 06/09 until 2 pm.

Departure will be on 9/11 and return ticket must be purchased after 2pm local time.

The entire schedule will be submitted and reviewed in VV's online training.

Marcus Alexandre Mello Santos:

He is an orthopedic doctor specializing in spinal surgery, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Catanduva (FAMECA), was a doctor in the Brazilian Army for 4 years working in field missions and Military Hospital. He worked for 15 years at the Association for Assistance to Disabled Children (AACD) in assisting special children with orthopedic deformities. He is also co-founder of the NGO AEPAS focused on orthopedic care for the underserved population in the city of São Paulo and has already worked with VV in medical missions to assist refugees in Roraima and as coordinator of the health expedition on Marajó Island.
