  • In this class, the historian, a specialist in the Middle East with extensive experience in the region, Monique Sochaczewski, presents a current overview of the numbers of refugees in general and the Turkish participation in welcoming them. It then starts with a history of how the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922) already had a tradition of welcoming refugees, whether Sephardic or Ashkenazim Jews, Circassians and “white Russians” (non-communists) among others. Understand a little about the history of migration in the region today called the Middle East and see how audiovisual works can be interesting sources for this theme.
