Medical Expedition Mozambique
A unique opportunity to work in the health area in one of the most needy countries in the world.
WHAT WILL WE DO
During the Mozambique Medical Expedition, the volunteer will have the opportunity to work in a community close to Maputo, helping to rescue the dignity of hundreds of people in situations of vulnerability. As a volunteer, you will help provide access to healthcare to the greatest number of people within the community, offering medical care in some specialties such as pediatrics and gynecology, and with the first aid service for minor incidents. The activity is carried out in partnership between the NGO and the local health unit, and volunteers will be able to help from patient triage to basic health care work.
There will be a brief training for volunteers about assistance in remote areas. All activities must respect the ethical criteria related to unique services of a humanitarian nature, also guided by the culture and specificities of the region
The action will take place between August 5th and 12th, 2022.
ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Mozambique is a country on the east coast of Africa, which neighbors: Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. The capital of this incredible country is Maputo, with 27 million inhabitants, with different ethnicities and many challenges still to be overcome! Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world, where more than half of the population lives below the poverty line, which is around half a US dollar a day. Illiteracy reaches 60% and life expectancy is 51 years.
